Welcome to My Therapy Practice
Your Journey to Well-Being Starts Here
Hi, it’s so nice to meet you! Here’s a little about me and my career history.
For over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals on their life journeys. This work is more than just what I do—my clients and you matter to me. I understand the courage it takes to face the challenges and obstacles that life brings. Witnessing my clients discover their strength and resilience is inspiring and truly rewarding.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a diverse group of individuals, starting with adolescents in residential programs, preschoolers facing early challenges, and high school students in private and public schools within the San Francisco Unified School District. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the important role family dynamics play in development at every stage of life. Each unique story has taught me to approach every individual with curiosity and flexibility, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and supported in their journey.
A pivotal and important shift in my career came when I began working in San Francisco County Jail, supporting incarcerated individuals and law enforcement. These experiences presented unique challenges and significantly shaped my understanding of mood and thought disorders, as well as substance use. They deepened my capacity for empathy, patience, and navigating complex human experiences, making me a more grounded, directive, and effective therapist.
Building on this foundation, I later transitioned into substance use treatment, working in an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) setting within a larger medical system. These years gave me a deep appreciation for the resilience it takes to pursue sobriety or engage in harm reduction treatment. Collaborating with colleagues both in and out of recovery provided me with a comprehensive understanding of addiction and the courage it takes to confront it. This experience gave me insight into the unique challenges faced by doctors, nurses, and other medical providers within large managed care systems. With this foundation, I approach each client’s recovery journey with compassion and meaning-making.
Through the last 20 years, I’ve also worked with entrepreneurs, executives, and venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. Before realizing fully that mental health was where I belonged, I gained firsthand experience in corporate roles at a major bank, a law firm, and a global retailer. These experiences equipped me to support those navigating the complexities of leadership and the human challenges behind their professional successes. This perspective allows me to create a space where driven individuals can step away and reconnect with themselves on a deeper level beyond their professional roles.
At the heart of this all, my greatest takeaway has been a deep appreciation for people’s resilience and capacity for change. It’s an honor to witness and support the journeys of those willing to take steps toward the changes they want to see in their lives. These stories inspire me daily and remind me of the transformative power of therapeutic work.
Beyond my professional work, I have a personal side. I’m curious and active, always seeking new experiences that challenge me. You might find me running (albeit slowly), hiking in Marin, or occasionally backpacking somewhere in California. These activities not only keep me grounded but also help me understand the value of finding balance and recharging—insights I share with my clients.
Above all, my greatest joy comes from the community of family and friends who enrich my life and keep me grounded. My role as a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend reminds me why relationships are at the heart of everything I do and why I’m so passionate about helping others build meaningful connections in their lives.
I want to provide you with the tools you need to address the issues you may be facing. Sometimes, that can look like helping you break down your thoughts using CBT or learning how to regulate your nervous system. For example, at times, our nervous system can get stuck in a survival state, leading to hyperarousal, where anxiety, stress, or overwhelm take over, or hypoarousal, where you may feel disconnected, unmotivated, or diminished. As your therapist, I’ll help you understand and regulate these states to help restore balance so you can perform at your best.
Over my years of experience, I have gained several tools and methods to address issues you may be facing. I like to tailor my treatment to you, not the other way around.
Every step you take toward self-awareness is a step toward a more fulfilling life. I’m here to support you in creating the change you desire, with empathy and understanding.
